From Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg to 2Pac, Jay-Z, and Nas, “Ol’ Skool” hip-hop is alive again at Juicy on Bangkok’s Sukhumvit Soi 11.
Juicy opened its doors on Feb. 1, 2022, bringing Bangkok’s youthful generation starved for new and unique entertainment venues that showcase the icons of 90s and early 2000s hip-hop and R&B while mixing in the best of today’s hip-hop.
Juicy’s “Ol’ Skool” cred is evident from the moment guests cross the velvet rope. Its polished black interior is illuminated with funky lighting and vivid neon highlights throughout.
Photos of hip-hop and R&B legends share space with iconic neon-lit quotes of the decade. Juicy’s walls also feature graffiti art from famous Bangkok artist Omeka and Dave Horgan from London.
Standup arcade machines offer hundreds of the 80s and 90s classics, from Pac-Mac to Donkey Kong.
Despite its cultural vintage, Juicy is aimed squarely at Thailand’s “90s Kids”, the twenty-something youths who weren’t even born when Ice Cube and the Cypress Hill hit the scene.
Operating on the ground floor of the Sugar Club complex, Juicy features an outdoor patio gleaming with polished tables and comfortable padded armchairs. The area is ideal for smokers or those wanting a chill-out vibe.
Juicy’s resident DJs pump out the 90s and early 2000s hip-hop and R&B with the “Sugar Takeover” beginning later in the night, seeing the top-flight crew from Panthera Group’s Sugar Club mix some old school playlists of hip-hop favourites from Drake, Lil Baby, Pop Smoke, and Doja Cat.
