Rossano’s Italian Cuisine
Tracing its roots back to Bangkok’s original Italian restaurant, Rossano’s Italian Cuisine carries on a historical food, décor and service tradition.
Gennari Rossano opened L’Opera in 1984, changing fine dining in Thailand’s capital forever. In 2005, he sold L’Opera and retired to Bang Saray, but he couldn’t stay away from the kitchen. Three years later, Rossano returned to Bangkok to open his namesake Cucina, injecting it with the same DNA that made L’Opera once so special.
Rossano’s Italian Cuisine was created with a different look and ambience than its predecessor: It is a Tuscan-style country house, light and airy, pastoral and cosy. Nestled in a tree-shaded enclave on Soi 21/3 off Asoke Montri Road. Rossano’s is an Italian taverna clad in red tile, brick and plaster on the walls, and intricate tiling risers on the stairs leading to two private dining rooms. The lighting is soft, chairs well-upholstered, and wall niches lined with grappa bottles and Rossano’s signature pig mascots.
Of course, the reason to come to Rossano’s is the food, which will gently remind you of Gennari’s values, and the simplicity of Italian regional cuisine.
Start your meal with fresh imported live mussels, sautéed in white wine and garlic or tomato sauce or Rossano’s choice selection of delicious appetisers, both warm and cold. Follow that up with pasta courses such as penne Calabrese with spicy tomato sauce, eggplant, ricotta, pine nuts and fresh basil. And then savour Rossano’s signature main course of a 1.5 kg. Wagyu Tomahawk Steak.
Rossano’s Italian chef also offers a monthly selection of limited-time specials, while private party rooms provide an ideal setting for more intimate gatherings.
